10 Cheap & Creative Valentine’s Day Dates

10 Cheap & Creative Valentine’s Day Dates

Do you want to create a memorable and exciting Valentine’s Day on a budget? Here are 10 ideas that can get you started.

1. Visit a Planetarium
We’re lucky that Valentine’s Day falls on a Saturday this year. Most Planetarium’s have Saturday night shows. This is a great way to take in a little romantic “stargazing” during the winter. Our local planetarium (Abraham’s of MSU) has an 8pm show every Saturday night for $4 ($3.50 for students)! If you’re near a college campus see if they have a planetarium you can visit.

2. Indoor Picnic
Put a little spin on dinner at home by creating a romantic picnic. Pack dinner up in containers for two and spread out on a blanket in the living room. Be sure to bring some wine!

3. Movie Night In
Pick a movie you both would enjoy (romantic or not) and put together a “movie night” date basket with popcorn and your favorite movie candy.

4. Recreate Your First Date
My boyfriend and I did this on our Anniversary this year. Go to the same restaurant, try in sit in the same spot if you can. It’s a fun and creative way to turn a regular restaurant into a romantic one. You don’t need to go somewhere expensive to make it romantic. If you went to dinner and a movie, rent the movie you saw and watch it at home.

5. Scavenger Hunt
Create a scavenger hunt of important places in your relationship. You could use your first date location, the place you met, where you proposed… anything you want. It will be a fun way to spend the evening together reminiscing.

6 & 7 Outdoor Ice Skating / Sledding
Take advantage of the cold February weather and go ice skating outdoors or sledding. Warm up afterwards with hot chocolate or coffee at a coffee shop.

8. Comedy Club
Comedy Clubs are usually pretty affordable. More than likely they will have a valentine’s day package or special. Check out your local club to see if they are doing a valentine’s day show.

9. Game Night
Stay in together and have a game night. Turn off your phones and just enjoy each other’s company.

10. Indoor Camping
Pitch a tent indoors or create a fort. If you’ve got a fireplace, start a fire and make some smores. You could even cook dinner over the fire is you’re feeling really adventurous.
