A green & White Weekend

A green & White Weekend

This weekend was all about Spartan Pride in East Lansing. We kicked off Friday night with Midnight Madness at the Breslin Center. Midnight Madness is like a giant pep rally for Spartan Fans to jumpstart the basketball season at State. Both the mens and womens teams are introduced, prizes are given out and you can get autographs from the team.

We didn’t stay the entire night, but we stayed through all the introductions. Tom Izzo (the mens coach) is kind of a big deal around here. He’s a local legend and he (and Susie Merchant) always come out in a fun way. Tom came out dressed as a member of the band KISS and Susie came out as Beyonce. It was pretty hilarious and shocking.

The band, cheerleaders and dance team were also on hand they put on quite a show as well.

Then Saturday, it was the U of M / MSU Game. I’m sure all instate rivalries are a big deal and it’s no different in the mitten. We began the tailgating day at about 9:30 and went right on through the game. So we were there from about 9:30-8pm. Ivan and my dad took my parents game tickets and attended the game, while my mom and I hung out at the tailgate. That got a little crazy. The wind was ridiculous on Saturday and it ended up bending the tent support bar. We had to take everything down while the wind was going insane… it was quite the stressful situation. We had a good time though.

  • Looks like you had a blast!

  • This looks like a lot of fun!! :) I don’t attend many games (like at all) but you make it sound like something I should try, haha!

  • This looked like so much fun! I wish I had gone to a school where sports were a bigger deal!

  • Aww – this makes me miss falls in Michigan. I lived just outside of Ann Arbor for about five years. I didn’t have an allegiance to UofM or Michigan State, but everyone’s gotta love a good rivalry, right? And the boots are great!

    • I’ve lived in East Lansing my whole life, but I can admit Ann Arbor is beautiful! It’s a fantastic town. And thank you! :)

  • It looks like you had a great weekend!
