On Sunday my parents and I went to the National Cathedral to see the choir preform. During the week the Cathedral charges admission, but on Sundays you can come visit for free. We went a bit early so that we could do take a short tour of the grounds.
The interior of the nave is pretty spectacular. The amount of detail and craftsmanship put into everything is insane. I also love how they lined the area with the state flags. We also went up to the Observation Tower. You can view the skyline from every angle. If you’re going to visit the church make sure you check it out. It was rather quiet up there, most of the visitors stayed downstairs, so we basically had the floor to ourselves. If you look at right side of the skyline in the photo below, you can see the Washington Monument in the distance.I’d like to come back and do a tour during to week at some point. Maybe the gargoyles tour? We’ll see. I’m not sure if I want to pay $10 for admission and then another $15 for the tour.
