This weekend was absolutely insane. Friday was Ivan’s graduation from law school. His family flew in late Thursday night and then his graduation was at 11 am on Friday. They were coming out of Phoenix, which had that crazy TSA meltdown, but thankfully their bags made it here with them. If you didn’t hear about it – long story short – the TSA checked bag scanners broke down and they had a backup of like 3,000 bags. Most flights out of the airport went without the checked luggage. Like I said, thankfully Ivan’s family had theirs. They must of hand checked their luggage or something.
But anyways, Friday morning we attended his graduation ceremony. It’s crazy to think that it’s been 3 years all ready. I’ve gotten pretty close to a lot of the students in his class, so it was both a joyous and sad event. A lot of the people have already left; either headed back home or to the locations of new jobs.
After graduation, we headed back to our house for a BBQ. We were celebrating a number of things; our birthdays, his graduation from law school and my sister’s college graduation.
Saturday we got up at 5 and drove Ivan’s parents and Aunt & Uncle down to Chicago. They had family that they wanted to visit, so we spend the day making rounds. We went to three different houses and each time the women fed us. I can honestly say, that I have never been so full in my life. Nobody would take “no” for an answer and I more than ate my weight in food.
We didn’t get back home until about 3 in the morning. It was a loooong day. The next morning Ivan drove his family back to the Detroit airport and then we headed to my sisters graduation that afternoon.
We went to celebration for that graduation afterwards at Red Lobster afterwards. We arrived home at about 7 and immediately passed out. We’d been skipping out on sleep all weekend and it had been catching up to us.
It was certainly a tiring weekend, but a fantastic one just the same.
