H54F: The US Capitol, The White House & Other DC Things

H54F: The US Capitol, The White House & Other DC Things

1. Capitol Tour
My parents came to visit last week and left on Tuesday. Monday morning we took a tour of the Capitol. I have to say, it was pretty impressive. We took a group tour, which apparently you don’t have to make reservations for. A ton of people just walked up and were able to get tickets. The tour itself was informative, but I was a bit disappointed that we didn’t get to see the House or the Senate. You have to contact your congressman for that, it’s a bit of a process.

2. Rita’s Italian Ice
Yesterday I took a walk down H Street and discovered Rita’s Italian Ice. I can tell you I’ll be back there soon. They had a ton of Italian Ice flavors as well as “creamed ice” and shakes. I had a dragon fruit italian ice and it was fantastic. Plus it was only about $2.30. Not bad at all for DC.

3. Gravelly Point Park
On Monday afternoon my parents and I drove down to Gravelly Point Park. It’s a park right across from the Ronald Reagan Airport and you can watch planes take off. They fly right over the park – it’s pretty cool. Definitely a fun place to have a picnic.

4. The White House
That night we had our final dinner with my parents at Del Frisco’s down by the White House. My mom really wanted to see it, so we walked down to Penn Ave after dinner. The last time I was here it was winter time and all the landscaping was pretty stark. This time there were flowers and a fountain running, it was rather pretty. Unfortunately, we didn’t see Bo though.

5. We Be Brunchin’
We attended our first DC Brunch on Sunday. We went to Hawk n’ Dove for a waffle & omelet bar. I stuffed myself on goodies and didn’t eat again until about 7 that night. Just as it should be.

  3. You actually make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this matter to be really something that I think I would never understand. It seems too complex and extremely broad for me. I’m looking forward for your next post, I’ll try to get the hang of it!

  4. Hello there! This post could not be written any better! Reading through this post reminds me of my old room mate! He always kept talking about this. I will forward this post to him. Fairly certain he will have a good read. Thank you for sharing!
