H5F4: Cooking Up a Storm

1. I MADE English Muffins
Guys, I made english muffins this week. Can you believe it? It might not seem like a big deal to a lot of you, but that’s raising the bar pretty high for me. I’ve been trying to save money on our groceries and I saw a recipe on Budget Bytes (favorite food blog EVER) and thought I’d give it a try. I had everything on hand and some time to kill last night, so I gave it a go. I’m crazy impressed with myself. Now I want to bake all sorts of things.

2. Goodwillin’
On Wednesday night I met my friend Jacquelline at one of our local goodwills. We both love thrifting, so it’s always fun to go together. I found two cute dresses – one from Loft and one from Macy’s, an Elle blazer from Kohls and a sweater from LOFT. I spent a total of $23. Not bad at all.

3. Tested out the Ice Cream Maker
Ivan bought me an ice cream maker for my birthday back in May and we haven’t had a chance to use it yet. We spent the summer in DC and the ice cream maker stayed here in Michigan. We finally gave it a go last night with an apple cinnamon ice cream. It was pretty good guys.  I might have to audition for Chopped.

4. Shopping with the Kelly Women
On Thursday night I went up to the Birch Run outlet with my mom and grandma. My mom had some business to take care of it the area and she asked if we’d like to tag along for a girls night. I never pass up an opportunity to shop, so I jumped on the offer. I got a new workout shirt from the Reebok outlet and had appetizers and drinks at Pizzeria Uno.

5. Started a Grocery Budget
It’s a bit of a long story and I’ll get into it more this weekend, but I started a grocery budget. We’re spending WAY too much money on groceries and going out too often, so I decided to put a stop to it. I cooked dinner every night this week and managed to come in under budget. I’ll have a full recap post up on Sunday.

  • i LOVE budget bytes. she is my fave too. we have been spending way too much on groceries over the past few months as well so i’ve really tried to cut it down! congrats on making english muffins, that is seriously awesome.

    • I didn’t even know it could be done. I mean obviously it COULD be done, but I had no idea that it was that easy. But yes. Budget Bytes. I’ve got her cookbook too and I use it at least once a week. I love that she uses everyday ingredients and makes them into crazy good things. I usually don’t have to buy some crazy weird thing that I’ll only use once.

  • Looks like you enjoyed a fun and super delicious week! Hope the upcoming weekend is just as fabulous! xo – Brenda // Chatting Over Chocolate

  • Budget Bytes is awesome! I use their enchilada sauce recipe all the time.
