I kicked off the weekend with a happy hour at the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum. It’s the new art museum on the Michigan State University’s campus that looks like a spaceship. They even filmed scenes for the new Batman vs. Superman movie there. It’s legit.
Anyways, back to the event. It was a free event but they only gave out a limited number of tickets. There was free champagne pizza and desserts as well as a cash bar. This was the first time I attended, but I guess they’ve put it on in the past.
My friend Jacquelline went with me – she’s a big art lover. We of course tried the food out (and the champagne!) and had a fantastic time walking around looking at the art. It’s been a while since I’ve been there and all of the exhibits have changed. I enjoy the art, but I honestly like the building itself a bit more. It’s just so sleek and cool.
They also had a photobooth setup with fun art themed props. There was a “Girl With the Pearl Earring” hat/scarf and fun Andy Warhol/Pop Art props.
If you are in the East Lansing area and you think this sounds like fun, I’d recommend liking their facebook page. That’s where I found out about the event and found the link to register for tickets. Like I said, it was a free event, you just had to register in advance. I know that they ran out of spaces, so be sure you act quickly if you see a new event!
