Today is the day my baby turns four. Or so we think. It’s the guestimate date the humane society gave us when we adopted Kidd last August. It’s our first birthday together and I’m pretty excited to fulfill my mommy duties.
I have to admit, I wasn’t the one who wanted a dog in the first place. Well, I did, but I didn’t think we were ready for one. I’m one of those obsessive pet owners and I didn’t think it would be right to get a dog we didn’t have time for. I wanted to provide the best possible life for my future fur baby. But… Ivan broke me down while we were in DC and I caved in and on our first day back in Michigan we got Kidd.
Less than a year later, I cannot imagine my life without this little dude. As a pointer mix, he requires lots of exercise, he’s spastic, and he’s stubborn, but I wouldn’t change him for anything. He insists on being under the blankets at all times and still refuses to learn the art of leash walking. But he’s the worlds cuddliest creature, the hardest player, a top notch snuggler and an absolutely amazing guest greeter.
He was abandoned & let go by his former parents and sat unwanted in the shelter for over four months. All I can say, is all those crazy people who passed my baby up are just plain nuts.
But anyways, happy birthday Kiddo. You’re everything we ever wanted and better than we ever could have imagined. Here’s to many more years & birthdays together.
