This weekend was fantastic. On Friday night I had a girls night / game night at my apartment. Ivan was still out of town for work, so we had to place to ourselves. I made sangria and even got to use my fancy Michigan cheeseboard.
We played three games – Heads Up, Uno and Cards Against Humanity. Guys, I love game night. Ivan’s not really a fan of games, so whenever I get a chance to have a game night I jump at the chance.
On Saturday night, Ivan and I became officially engaged. We’ve been talking about it for a while, but we finally did it on Saturday. We had already looked at rings together, so I knew what I wanted. Ivan called my dad and asked him and then he proposed and gave me my beautiful ring. We even got to have it resized that night, so I got to bring it home. I’m so excited. We still don’t know where we are going to get married (Arizona or Michigan), but now we’ve at least got the ball rolling.
I also had tickets to see Elle King with my friend Desi on Saturday night. I was reluctant to leave Ivan right after he proposed, but I’m glad I got to go. I’ve been waiting for this concert for months and she was amazing. Honestly, if you ever get a chance to see her live, do it. You won’t be disappointed.
She even had a surprise for us and married a couple on stage. She then serenaded them with a cover of “Oh, Darling” while they danced on stage. It was pretty incredible. It was my first time at the 9:30 Club and I’d go back in a heartbeat. The venue was just large enough. There was a great energy, but it wasn’t a huge mass of people.
In other news, I also put my Christmas tree up. She’s a little baby tree, but I’ve never really had the space for a larger one. Plus, we had to get rid of all of our christmas stuff when we moved because of space restrictions, so there aren’t many ornaments.
Last year we started collecting ornaments from places we travel together and we decided to just use those on the tree from now on. As of right now, we’ve got a whopping 7 ornaments. But… the collection will grow with time and I think it will make decorating the tree even more fun in the future.
And we’ll close out the post with a picture of Kidd. Because, like always, when he heard my camera going he came running. He hates when I take pictures that don’t involve him.
All in all, I’d say it was a rather amazing weekend. I mean, I got engaged. Can’t beat that, right?
