Weekending: Camping at Pocahontas State Park

Weekending: Camping at Pocahontas State Park

This weekend we survived or first camping trip as a couple. I grew up camping… but RV camping. My mother despises tents, so we never really used them. She’s a “glamper” through and through. However, about a month and a half ago, Ivan suggested that we trying tent camping together. We are within driving distance to a ton of beautiful state parks and it’s something we can take Kidd along for.

Anyways, this weekend, we did a little test run. We drove the two hours to Pocahontas State Park Saturday morning and spent one night tent camping.

Kidd still won’t swim on his own. It’s my goal to teach him this summer, but it’s still a little too cold for me to get in the water. Hopefully we’ll make it back to a lake when it’s a bit warmer. He wants to swim, he just can’t seem to figure it out.

We did a bit of hiking, successfully setup the tent, built a fire and survived sleeping on the ground.

We were all fans of the hammock and spent most of Sunday morning cuddling in comfort. It was super easy to setup and was big hit.

In fact, we both had a fantastic time overall and can’t wait to go again. If anyone has any suggestions on camping spots near the DC area, please share.

Today I am linking up with Healthy Diva Life for Marvelous in My Mondays & Biana at B Loved Boston for Weekending
