Weekending: The One Where I Turned 27

Weekending: The One Where I Turned 27

So it was birthday weekend! My 27th birthday was yesterday, but we kind of celebrated all weekend.

Friday night we went to the Cinco DC Mayo festival. It had lucha libre (mexican wrestling), loteria (mexican bingo), mexican food trucks, a mariachi, carnival games & drinks.

I had tacos & street corn for dinner, which is always a fantastic idea.

It was windy and had been raining that day, so my hair was a complete mess. Naturally.

My friend and I also got our pictures taken with one of the wrestlers. Because why not.

Afterwards we brought our friends back to our apartment, where we promptly ordered pizza and then headed out to Old Town. We ended up at our favorite Irish Bar, Murphy’s, where they have a live cover band.

It was such a fun night. We had a blast singing and laughing all night. I headed home around midnight, but Ivan and a few more friends kept going. His birthday is on Wednesday, so we were celebrating his birthday too.

We didn’t do much during the day on Saturday, but we did go watch the Canelo vs. Chavez Jr. fight at the Regal Cinema down the street. I never watched boxing growing up and it still makes me hella nervous, but I enjoy it now. Ivan gets really into it. Plus, Canelo is my absolute favorite. He dominated by the way ;)

Sunday was my actual birthday, so Ivan made me breakfast and we went and picked up my cake. We got my tres leches cake from this great place up the street that sells Salvadorian and Mexican cakes and pastries. They also sell some amazing pupusas. We go there a lot.

We laid pretty low until dinnertime. We had my birthday dinner down the street at Rosemarino d’ Italia. It was my first time there and it was absolutely delicious. I’ll be back.

I had my cake when we got home and then we finished the night off by watching Guardians of the Galaxy again. We’re going to try and see the new one Tuesday night, so we wanted a bit of a refresher.

So that was my weekend. Did you do anything fun?

Today I am linking up with Healthy Diva Life for Marvelous in My Mondays & Biana at B Loved Boston for Weekending
